Abstract: The translation of national semantic words needs various skills,as conventional literal translation or simple translation cannot satisfactorily meet the challenges brought about by globalization,and there exist cross-cultural communication barriers abroad due to lack or misunderstanding of Chinese culture.The paper is intended to put forward some translation strategies,i.e.combination of "Expansion" and "Restraint",which are based on faithful rendering of content with liberal form.
