Abstract:
The Jinggangshan Spirit is in the same vein as the Red Boat Spirit, yet it has acquired new vital connotations under distinct historical conditions. Specifically, its spirit of “seeking truth from facts and blazing new trails” inherits and develops the pioneering spirit; its spirit of “staying firm in faith and working hard” inherits and develops the spirit of striving; its spirit of “relying on the masses and striving for victory” inherits and develops the spirit of dedication. From the Red Boat to Jinggangshan, the Chinese Communists experienced the ups and downs of revolutionary struggles and embarked on an arduous process of transformation: from a city-centered approach to one centered on rural areas, from reliance on foreign aid to independence and self-reliance, and from idealism to a firm grounding in reality. The spiritual qualities of the Chinese Communists were not only carried forward and enriched, but also tempered and sublimated, thus composing a pivotal chapter in the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context.Guided by the Red Boat Spirit and the Jinggangshan Spirit, Chinese Communists blazed a correct revolutionary path suited to China’s national conditions, laying a solid foundation for the ultimate victory of the Chinese revolution. The Red Boat Spirit and the Jinggangshan Spirit remain ever fresh. They continue to offer the contemporary Chinese Communists significant spiritual nourishment and ideological guidance, and thus should be vigorously carried forward.
