Abstract:
Driven by the dual forces of technological iteration and the rehabilitation of embodied agency, journalistic production is shifting from an information centered paradigm toward the construction of multisensory experiences. Within this transformation, journalistic narratives undergo structural reconfigurations at the levels of story, discourse, and narration: from factual representation to immersive worldbuilding, from rational persuasion to affective empathy mechanism, and from linear dissemination to nonlinear and interactive narration. This shift fosters the emergence of a“convergent reality”that integrates sensory immersion with factual grounding, blending subjective experiences with objective truths. While enhancing immersive experience and audience participation, it also generates heightened tensions surrounding standards of truth, professional authority, and public rationality. Accordingly, the development of sensory journalism calls for the recalibration of a balancing mechanism between technological logic and value norms.
