Abstract: As a pioneer and founder of eastern art history research, Chang Renxia has explored the main position and rational value of Chinese local cultural arts, forming his own artistic and art historical views, as well as a system of thoughts on art history. Research on Chang Renxia’s Thoughts on Art History conducts comprehensive analysis, interpretation, and reflection from the broad perspective of academic history, using history as the thread, and citing aesthetic, historical documents, and art theoretical knowledge from both China and abroad for analysis. Starting with the logical origin of Chang Renxia’s thoughts on art history, the formation of his materialist artistic and art historical views, the work then proceeds to systematically sort out the characteristics and impacts of Chang Renxia’s art historical research from multiple dimensions. Furthermore, it conveys a realistic concern for the contemporary inheritance and development of traditional cultural arts from the value and enlightenment of Chang Renxia’s art historical research, thus constructing an integrated and progressive academic thought system of Chang Renxia on the whole.
