Abstract: The Zunyi Conference represents a momentous turning point in saving the Communist Party of China, the Red Army, and the Chinese revolution. Its spiritual connotation is not a stylized ideological construction, but embodies strict and self-consistent logic of historical materialism. Concepts serve as the starting point of all logics. To ascend from perceptual cognition of connotation understanding to rational cognition, it is imperative to commence by interpreting the essential connotation of the Zunyi Conference spirit based on the principles of historical materialism. Specifically, such an approach follows the principle of dialectical materialism epistemology, the principle of dialectical relationship between social existence and social consciousness, the principle of social contradiction movement, and the principle of Marxist mass history view. This thinking way also provides the methodological guidance of historical materialism for absorbing the historical experience and spiritual nutrition of Zunyi Conference in the new journey of new era.
