Legal translation is not only an interdisciplinary subject, but also a professional translation practice. Taking
The Amendment (
XI)
of the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China as an example, this study discusses the translation of legal texts from the perspective of functional equivalence theory, including four levels of lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence in order to summarize some translation strategies of legal texts and guide the translation practice of legislative texts.
