Abstract: As the core task of first-class universities construction, first-class disciplines construction is the foundation and starting point to improve the quality of higher education, and plays an important role in the construction of China’s powerful country of higher education．However, there are some practical difficulties in the construction of first-class disciplines in China, such as the dispute between academic and social logic, dependence on international disciplines ranking, and imbalance of disciplines structure, which have caused certain negative effects on the construction of first-class disciplines．In order to solve these problems and realize the goal and value of first-class disciplines construction, we can take corresponding actions from three paths: adhering to academic logic, responding to social logic, and maintaining the necessary tension; making good use of the subject evaluation, aiming at world-class, and creating Chinese characteristics; promoting interdisciplinary, forming discipline community, and cultivating the discipline culture.
