Abstract: Cao Yan-yue was a political official who lived through the Southern Song Dynasty of Xiao Zong, Guang Zong,Ning Zong and Li Zong. He had accomplishments in politics, economy, military affairs and education, so he was a famous minister of the Southern Song Dynasty. Cao Yan-yue had many writings, and the poem was his main achievement in literature.He was a famous poet of the Southern Song Dynasty. However, few people studed on Cao Yan-yue's life and activities. So this thesis would give a chronological and textual research on the family, activities, workings of Cao Yan-yue according to the history, local chronicles,genealogies and other materials related. Consequently, it would provide some useful materials for the researchers who are interested in the achievements of Cao Yan-yue's poems and essays.
