The Chinese Vocabulary for Fashion Culture in Konjaku Monogatarishu

  • Apart from several exceptions,the Chinese words for fashion culture that appear in Konjaku Monogatarishu mostly originated from China,keeping the same semantic meanings with the ancient Chinese language.They can be categorized into three types:1.the vocabulary for the daily lives of nobles in the Heian Era and the Chinese words that have fused with original Japanese;2.the vocabulary for male intellectuals in the Cloister Government Era,such as record style words;3.the vocabulary inherited from the progenitors of Konjaku Monogatarishu,including Chinese dictionaries and Buddhist sutras.Each category is characterized with its features.
