Hypertext and the Revolution of Reading——Taking Michael Joyce's Hypertext novel Twelve Blue as an example

  • In the hypertext network, the reader can choose different reading paths and explore a different kind of story type. Twelve Blue is one of the masterpieces of hypertext literature. It includes 269 links, 96 space and 8 lexia.Multiple dimensional net-based structure, streams of consciousness flowing everywhere, images of water, death and colour, and the transfers and changes of role relationships are included in this novel. These make the work just like an electronic labyrinth. Readers can discover different stories in this labyrinth and this is a completely different text travel by comparison with printed literature. Close reading Twelve Blue can help readers cope with the revolution of reading in the hypertext age.
