Aggression and compensation in translation

As George Steiner states in his After Babel, the hermeneutic motion, the act elicitation and appropriative transfer of meaning include four moves: initiative trust, aggression, incorporation and compensation. When translators translate, they usually invade and aggress on the original text, break the balance between the source text and target text and that between the source language and target language. But the translation brings new life to the original text and compensates it. How can the balance be achieved? How to achieve balance under different contexts? The author will answer the questions with examples in this article.
