Theme and rheme in teaching writing and reading

  • In this paper, the authors introduce and summarize six progression patterns of theme and rheme. They believe that it is of necessity for an English teacher to give his students some knowledge on this field, which will enable the students to overcome the blindness and perplexity in writing and to grasp the structure clue of the text that they are reading and then improve their reading comprehension.
