American Private Associations’ Participation in Federal Higher Education Legislation

  • As the representatives of higher education, the private associations have played an important role in federal legislation. Through lobbying which includes inside and outside lobbying, the associations participate in the process of federal legislation. By their participation, the associations provide real and accurate information, which enhances the communications between policy makers and those who practise in higher education. The associations' interaction with legislature can also produce diverse views and drafts, which in effect benefits the legislation and checks the power of the government. As an interest group, the associations' lobbying can help get more resources for higher education.
