A Feminist Reading of Margaret Atwood’s Surfacing
-
Abstract
Surfacing is one of the most important works of Canadian authoress Margaret Atwood, published in 1970s.This essay intends to interpret the novel from a feminist perspective and expose the subjection of women in the patriarchal society who are reduced to the Other through male objectification of women and the oppression of women by reproductive technologies.Though written in the 1970s,the novel is still of great implications to the present feminist politics.
