Combination of literal and free translation

  • Equivalence translation requires that the target-language version has the same effect as the original one. Translators are demanded not only to reproduce the general meaning and intention of the original, but also to pay attention to the combination of the literal translation and free translation. This paper has discussed the effects of literal translation and free translation separately, and how to combine these two methods of translation effectively.
