Abstract
Based on the theories of linguistics and cognitive psychology,this article aims at a research on a systematic reform in teaching postgraduate English,including its teaching content,teaching model,the means for teaching,teaching methods,testing system for assessing students.language abilities,and strateg ies for students.initiative study.The purpose of the research is to motivate all the favourable elements in the process of teaching and studying English language,and to improve the postgraduates'ability to use English (including listening,speaking,and writing) and apply English to the development of their specialities.
