Analysis of Stress and Cohesion Functions of Inverted Sentences in English

As a tool of human communication,language bears various functions. The selection of different sentence patterns and structures brings about different meanings. Inversion is an important rhetoric means in English and an abnormal sentence structure. It is divided into two types: emphatic inversion and non-emphatic inversion. This paper makes analysis of stress and cohesion functions of inverted sentences by borrowing the former research results.
