    Abstract
  • Mainly based on the theory of Cognitive Linguistics,this article discusses the reasons for the existence of English and Chinese unmarked passives.The unmarked passives that result from profiling the patient in the human's cognition of events are of necessity for the expression of the different process of events.In addition,different thinking patterns exert considerable influence on the use of unmarked passives in daily life.
