Studies on Eco-Metaphor of Natural and Spatial Images in Le Chercheur d'or

  • French Eco-Writer Le Clézio is constantly concerned with the theme——the inner barrenness caused by materialism in the context of Western modern civilization, and the pursuit of human eternal spiritual homeland. He expresseed his constant criticism on Western modern civilization and materialism by means of double metaphor of gold-pursuit in the novel. Poetic description on natural elements and spatial images, and attention to ecological value of foreign native civilization ecology, made his writing's imaginative space characteristic of mythic symbolic coloring and profound ecological metaphorical sense. The novel indicated the author's viewpoint of non-western-centered civilization and his pursuit for human's real treasure, namely, harmonious homeland shared by humans and nature.
