Analysis of Sino-Japanese Relations after the Cold War-History and Reality

  • The international situation and regional politics in the Asia-Pacific region have undergone a profound structural adjustments and changes since the end of the Cold War. As an important bilateral relationship in the complex international relations in the Asia-Pacific region, Sino-Japanese relations have also been impacted and influenced correspondingly, and encountered unprecedented difficulties at the beginning of the 21st century. So far, through the joint efforts of both China and Japan, bilateral relations have been out of the woods back to the track, but the practical problems in the troubled Sino-Japanese relations have not been resolved completely, and the bilateral relations are still very sensitive and vulnerable.This paper analyzes the deep reasons that have led to the difficult situation in Sino-Japanese relations through historical research and realistic analysis, points out that the key problem that has plagued the normal development of Sino-Japanese relations is the lack of mutual trust and the traditional security dilemma that is hard to overcome, and tries to explore paths and methods that will help overcome the dilemma, which is of great importance for us to recognize the reality of Sino-Japanese relations, and to maintain healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
