A contrastive study of English and Chinese and translation from Chinese to English

This paper gives a brief account of main differences between English and Chinese in terms of synthetic language and analytic language,hypotaxis and parataxis,subject-prominent language and topic-prominent language.From the translation of the Chinese passage we can find that English-Chinese contrastive studies play an instructive role in translation.Translators must have a complete understanding of the differences between English and Chinese in order to achieve dynamic equivalence in their translations.
