The Western Value System and Its Evaluation

Abstract
The western value system experienced ancient Greek,middle age,modern and contemporary times. The ancient Greek rationalism,humanism and hedonism values are the main tradition of the western value system. The belief doctrine,futurism and asceticism with the Christianity as the core formed the important content of the western value system of the middle ages. After the modern times, the values featured by individualism,anthropocentrism and scientism suitable for the modernization were established in the west countries. But owing to a series of disasters caused by the western development mode,the values such as anthropocentrism,rationalism and scientism,etc. incurred people's suspect and criticism. The western value system has historical progress and universal significance,but it also has specialty and limitation.
