The Life of Fate——Reevaluating Herodotus' Predestine Historical Idea

  • By analyzing some elaboration of Herodotus' The History,it will be revealed that Herodotus considered history as the existence controlled by the power of Gods. With this idea of history,Herodotus believed that the vicissitudes of human affairs in history are based on the will of Gods. Under this relationship between Gods and men, human is nothing but the puppet of Gods, who struggled in the history innocently and insolently, failed and was destroyed in the end wretchedly and inevitably. Herodotus' idea of history is saturated with strong color of fatalism.
