On Chinese-English translation by the use of contrastive study——starting with the English translation of two Chinese phrases

  • Translation is a complicated process. Using the English translation of two Chinese phrases as the starting point, this article analyzes the differences in semantics, sentence structures and styles between English and Chinese language. The aim is to illustrate the idea that good translation should take into consideration correct comprehension of the original meaning, right conversion of sentence patterns and adaptation of the equivalent style.
