On filial piety culture characteristics in the Song Dynasty

  • Inheriting the policy that the country was ruled by the filial piety, the Song Dynasty greatly pushed the development of the filial piety culture. The Song Dynasty filial piety culture showed two obvious characteristics. First, it ended the historic process of transfer of filial piety to loyalty, establishing the concept that filial piety was more important than loyalty. Second, they brought filial piety into Neo-Confucianism.
