Linchuan Ji Dakui’s Method of Interpreting the Book of Changes

  • Linchuan Ji Dakui in the Qing Dynasty wrote many specialized works on the study on the book of Changes, presenting a rather unique approach to interpreting the book of Changes, and holding significant value in the book of Changes studies. Ji’s studies started from the approach of previous scholars who interpreted the principles of the book of Changes through mutual and opposite hexagrams, and created unique ways of interpreting the book of Changes such as “enveloping body”and “rotating body”. He systematically explored the profound connotations of the“simplicity of the book of Changes”. Drawing on the important concepts of the school of image and number, he emphasized the basis of image and number and derived reasonable philosophical principles, making significant contributions to the forward development of I Ching studies in the Qing Dynasty.
