Value-guiding Function of Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought in Ideological and Political Education Within Economics Courses
-
Abstract
Xi Jinping’s economic thought, with “the seven commitments” at its core, establishes a systematic and comprehensive theoretical framework. Unlike the implicit capital logic of western economics, its distinct “people-centered” stance reshapes the value core of economics education. It is characterized by theoretical leadership, value orientation, and practical penetration, enabling it to unify various branches of economics such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and development economics, thereby achieving an organic integration of specialized knowledge. This thought can play a value-guiding role in the ideological and political construction of economics courses. This approach not only addresses challenges in the ideological and political education within economics courses, such as “value dilution”,“the two separate layers” and the disconnection between knowledge and action, but also holds deeper significance. It contributes to building China’s independent system of economic knowledge, cultivates a new generation with both professional competence and a sense of national responsibility, strengthens the ideological security defense in higher education institutions, and achieves a fundamental shift from knowledge transmission to value shaping.
