Interactive Interface Design of Smart Phone for Elderly People Based on Flow Theory

Driven by the wave of intelligentisation, elderly users are facing unprecedented usage challenges. Exploring the design method of smartphone interaction interface that can reach the state of mind flow can significantly improve the enthusiasm and operation efficiency of the elderly in using smartphones. The design strategy is as follows: relying on the framework of cognitive psychology mind-flow theory, combining the psychological and behavioural characteristics of the elderly group with the three-dimensional characteristics of perception, goal and challenge of the mind-flow experience, we finally form an ageing-friendly design system that includes multi-dimensional image positioning, progressive goal layering, and a dual-track feedback mechanism. The design practice of square dance APP “Lianwu” shows that the above strategies can effectively enhance the immersive emotional experience of elderly users in the process of operation, help elderly users experience the interactive functions of smartphones in depth, and provide methodological references for the research in related fields.
