Impact of Mental Health on Migrant Workers’ Subjective Well-beingMediating Effects Based on Social Inclusion

  • Enhancing the subjective well-being of migrant workers is of great significance for building a harmonious society and achieving common prosperity. Based on the 2020 CFPS data, a model was constructed to verify that mental health significantly and positively affects the subjective well-being of migrant workers. Social integration has a mediating effect on the impact of mental health on subjective well-being. When migrant workers work slightly overtime, their mental health, social integration, and subjective well-being are all at a high level, while when they work severely overtime, they are at a lower level. The mediating effects of economic integration and social relationship integration on the impact of mental health on subjective well-being exhibit heterogeneity in terms of working hours and gender. For migrant workers who work both regular and severe overtime, there is a partial mediating effect of economic integration, and it is more significant when working severe overtime. For male migrant workers, there is a partial mediating effect in the integration of social relationships. The relevant departments should firstly focus on the mental health of migrant workers. Secondly, measures should be taken to steadily improve the quality of employment, social participation and social security for rural migrant workers. In particular, female migrant workers should be encouraged to participate actively in social organizations and activities.
