Contemporary College Students’ Unstandardized Network Language Phenomenon and Its Governance Strategies

  • As young college students who are “digital natives” and members of “Generation Z”, the popularity of social media and the rapid development of the internet have increasingly diversified their communication methods in the online environment. Internet language has become an extremely important means of expression for them. However, the generation and dissemination mechanisms of internet language differ from those of traditional written language. Guiding contemporary college students to establish proper norms for online language and improve their proficiency in online language expression is an urgent need in building a “cyber education” system. Analyzing the phenomenon of improper internet language usage among contemporary college students and its negative impact is beneficial for strengthening students’ adherence to proper online language usage and for implementing governance strategies in various aspects, including the country, society, schools, families, and individuals.
