Academic Occupation: the Correction and Reshaping Based on the Teacher Identity of Counselor

  • The relevant system clearly stipulates that college counselors have the dual role as manager and teacher. However, in real work, the role of the school counselors gradually become “all-purpose nannies” who can provide unlimited service, teach without classroom and take the position without any requirement on account of the management function reinforced constantly by the external environment. But no matter from the external regulation of the system policy or the fundamental nature of the teaching profession and the inherent inevitability of the identity, the professional identity of counsellor is teacher, and academic nature is the essential trait of the teacher. To show this characteristic, the counselors should reshape their academics including thinking work cases to transform the practice into experience, writing academic papers to transform the experience into theory and submitting scientific projects to systematize the theory.
