AI: The Great Opportunities and Severe Challenges for Human Survival and Development

AI is a double-edged sword. Its rapid development may bring both great opportunities and severe challenges to human survival and development. As machines replace people, global industries tend to return to developed countries. The demographic dividend in developing countries will disappear and the global development gap will widen. Cutting edge technologies may create more complete monopolies and even become accomplices to hegemony and power politics. AI technology out of control will become the “genie out of the bottle”. In the face of possible challenges brought by artificial intelligence, the international community should strive to “put the law before the devil” in institutions. All these measures are to prevent AI technology from getting out of control, avoid AI becoming a tool for data giants to exploit people in backward regions, and then promote all mankind to share the dividends brought by AI.
