Shaping Chinese Cultural Image Among International StudentsA Case Study of Cross-cultural Communication Course

  • Shaping Chinese cultural image among international students serves as the public diplomatic role, which helps to improve the global influence of China. It is significant to attach the importance to the international students’ education in the universities for the purpose of enhancing of Chinese national image. After redesigning the cross-cultural communication course, the thesis observes and analyzes the change of the students’ Chinese cultural image cognition including cultural values, cultural traditions and cultural achievements. It is found that students’ understanding of Chinese cultural image presents a dynamic trend from distortion and misunderstanding to objective impression; reflective homework and practice out of the classroom have also strengthened the students’ identity of Chinese culture. Suggestions are proposed as highlighting the identity objective in the syllabus, emphasizing the superposition effect of teaching contents, and broadening channels for cultural practice for constructing the ideal teaching ecological environment.
