Rediscussion of Anti-passive Status of Chinese Disposal Sentences
-
Abstract
The disposal sentence of Chinese Language differs from the anti-passive sentence of Inuit Language. The object of "ba" sentence (one type of disposal sentence) is base generated rather than being moved from the object position of the following verb. There exists no degeneration of object in the disposal sentence which distinguishes it from anti-passive structure. However, there does exist similarities between disposal sentence and anti-passive sentence. The similarity lies in the reversed allocation of arguments in both structures. Disposal sentence can be divided into disposing type and influencing type and the former contains two branches: combating type and placement type. There are various importance degrees among the thematic roles involved in disposal sentences.
