Mao Zedong’s United Front Thought and Enlightenment in the Period of the Central Soviet Area

Mao Zedong’s united front ideology during the Central Soviet period is an important part of the history of the united front of the Communist Party of China. The united front during the Central Soviet period suffered serious setbacks, but the Chinese Communists, represented by Mao Zedong, still insisted on and flexibly used the united front to consolidate and expand the Party’s mass base and class power, and made positive contributions to the development and growth of the revolutionary forces, forming Mao Zedong’s ideas on the united front during the Central Soviet period. These ideas are scattered in seven articles in The Selected Works of Mao Zedong (Vol. 1), including the principles and methods of united front work such as great unity, unity in consistency and diversity, serving the overall situation around the center, and respecting, safeguarding and taking care of the interests of allies. To learn from the political wisdom, scientific attitude and value orientation contained in these ideas and to strengthen and improve the United Front Work in the new era, it is necessary to carry forward the spirit of fight and precisely subdivide the scope of the target of the United Front Work politically, link theory with practice and plan the key areas of the United Front Work scientifically and strategically and adhere to the mass line and build a big United Front Work pattern from the whole situation.
