Social Benefits Assessment for Translation and Dissemination of Chinese Internet Fictions

The international dissemination of Chinese internet fictions has greatly boosted Chinese culture going global, especially the popular culture. Due to the absence of corresponding criticism and evaluation mechanism, some problems may have arisen in the outbound translation of Chinese internet fictions. It is of significance to assess social benefits for translating and disseminating Chinese internet fictions. From the aspects of national image construction, politics, literature, culture, economy and poetics, social benefits were analyzed in details. Then, problems including the stereotyped and low-profile styles, poor translation quality, and tendency of domesticating translation were explored. To maintain sustainable and optimum social benefits, attention needs to be paid to the diversity, positive Chinese images and ideological spirits, literary and artistic attributes in translating and disseminating Chinese internet fictions.
