Historical Motivation and Political Implications of the Chinese Communist Party’s Policy of Promoting Mandarin in the Early Days of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

  • In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with the development of socialist revolution and construction, the traditional mode of production of small-scale peasant economy changed, and Chinese society gradually entered an era of collectivization. The contradiction between different dialects and national construction became increasingly apparent. The language issue was directly related to the reform of Chinese characters, and it was also an important issue related to the socialist governance of the country. The Chinese Communist Party formulated policies to promote Mandarin, which was to solve the problems caused by dialect barriers through interlingual integration, and promoted political construction, economic development, education popularization and social integration. The language policy of promoting Mandarin deeply embodies the dialectical and unified thinking of the CCP in governing the country and has a profound impact on the construction of a socialist country.
