“Seventeen Years” Folk Literature’s Observation and Deviation From Marxism

  • The period from the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 to the Cultural Revolution in 1966 was called “seventeen years”. The development of Chinese folk literature during this period has distinct characteristics, both in compliance with Marxist theory and in deviation from it. Observation is mainly reflected in the emphasis on the people, and deviation is mainly reflected in the artificial selection and rewriting of folk literature. We must adhere to the Marxist line so that the construction of folk literature can flourish in the future.
