Evaluation of Higher Education Development Level Based on Entropy Weight and Gray Comprehensive Evaluation

  • Higher education is the key to enhance regional development potential and competitiveness. Regional differences in the development of higher education in China are increasing. To eliminate regional differences, it is necessary to evaluate the level of regional higher education development scientifically. Firstly, the evaluation index system was constructed from three aspects, such as scale, input and output. Then based on entropy weight, the gray comprehensive evaluation model was constructed to make an empirical analysis on the development level of 31 provinces in China. Finally, the regional differences and development trends of regional higher education level in China were analyzed. The results showed that the development level of regional higher education in our country had obvious ‘club phenomenon’, which showed a gradient distribution pattern from the east coast to the west inland; The level of regional higher education in our country was steadily rising year by year, but the regional differences were more and more intense with time.
