An Empirical Study on the Cognition and Evaluation of Jiangxi Local Culture by Foreign Students

Abstract
Local culture is an important part of Jiangxi’s soft power. The international spread of Jiangxi’s local culture is conducive to the construction of Jiangxi’s cultural image and the improvement of Jiangxi’s regional influence. Foreign students who come to China as“others”enter the cultural context of Jiangxi. They are the witnesses and bystanders of Jiangxi’s native culture, and also the media of Jiangxi’s culture. This paper investigates and evaluates foreign students’ cognition and evaluation of Jiangxi native culture through surveys and interviews. The study finds that the basic impression of foreign students on Jiangxi culture is positive; their cognitive level of Jiangxi local culture is not high, but their willingness to actively understand Jiangxi culture is very strong; friends in China are important channels for foreign students to obtain information. Therefore, in the process of internationalization and dissemination of Jiangxi native culture, it is necessary to be full of cultural self-confidence and maintain cultural self-examination. The production of communication content should establish brand awareness. The choice of communication mode should meet the needs of the audience. It is necessary to promote the assimilation management of Chinese and foreign students and expand the scope of scholarship funding. It is necessary to attach importance to opinion leaders and give full play to the role of media of foreign students.
