On the Poetry Translation in the Light of Expectation HorizonTaking the Translation of Li Qingzhao’s Two Poems for Example

Poetry is the treasure of ancient Chinese literature and art. The translation and study of poetry is an important way for “Chinese literature exporting”, and the study of classical Chinese poetry translation from the perspective of readers’ “expectation horizon” is conducive to the overseas spread of Chinese literature. Through the translation studies of Li Qingzhao’s two poems and Ci-poetry with different styles, it can be found that, based on the “expectation horizon” of the target language reader, the translator retains the rhythmic and phonological beauty by employing “tones”,“yllable-pause”, metrical pattern of classical Chinese poetry and “syllables”“foot” and rhythmic modes of English poems. The translator uses highly concise words, similar English rhetoric, intertextual references with combination of appropriate translation strategies and methods to present the rhetoric beauty, image beauty and imagery beauty and the beauty of connotation of the original poetry.
