The Study on Günther Schwab’s Forest-writing Literary Works
-
Abstract
Günther Schwab, Austrian eco-philosopher and eco-writer, was a pioneer in covering historical reflection and reflection of reality in his eco-literary works. He tirelessly wrote over 30 eco-literary works, and made 1 500 reports on environmental protection, dedicating his whole life to environmental protection, and leaving immortal eco-cultural heritage to the descendants. Committed to studies of sylviculture for his whole life, he was particularly concerned about protection of forest resources. A large number of historical materials were used in his literary works, covering deforestation in the five continents and various historical periods. He intended to tell the world to learn from history, not to follow the old patterns of destroying forest and nature, and even human beings themselves, as forests are the material basis for our survival, cradle of our culture, and spiritual homeland for our souls. In doing so, we should begin from teenagers, educate them to respect nature and understand the importance of protecting forest resources, which is a way to sustainable development. In the eyes of Schwab, it would play a great, instructive role in protecting forest resources to tell people to reject materialism, curb the lust for money, and live a simple and healthy life.
