Interpretation of “knowing” in “If others do not know me,I do not feel angry.” in Analects of Confucius

  • There are three interpretations of " knowing” in " If others do not know me,I do not feel angry.” in Analects of Confucius proposed, and it was understood by predecessors as " knowing”, " understanding”, " using” or " understanding and appointing”. From the point of view of 14 internal evidences, Confucius’s character of a gentleman, way of life, concept of knowing others, benevolence policy and so on, it should be interpreted as appreciation.
