A Semantic and Literary Study of “Tomboy”

    Abstract
  • The paper, mainly consisting of historical context study and literature analysis, defines and illuminates the word "tomboy" and its literature images with examples of some literary works. Originated from the propaganda of the upper-class whites' value, the phenomenon of tomboys witnesses the ups and downs in history and culture, which then becomes an indispensable part in literature and historical changes. The nonconformity of tomboys echoes modern sex theories such as Performativity and Queerism.
