Analysis of Art Idea of Comfort and Compensation Function in Late Ming Dynasty

Xu Wei and other literati in the late Ming Dynasty pursue to artistic creation, in order to obtain artistic comfort and access to spiritual compensation, and this become very common art phenomenon in this period. The phenomenon is the inevitable result of the political chaos in the late Ming Dynasty, the corruption of the officialdom, the prosperity of the commodity economy and the philosophical thoughts of Yangming's philosophy of mind, and the unique human life of most late Ming literati make this phenomenon more prominent in social change and transition period. The artistic creation became Xu Wei and many other late Ming writers vent their resentment for writing, and became their emotional life manifestations and important sustenance. The study of artistic comfort and compensation function has deepened the perception of the inner function of art and enriched the connotation of ancient Chinese art theory, which is of great significance to promote the prosperity and development of art.
