Feudal Samurai Education in Japan and Its Characteristics

  • Bushido has been through two stages in recent Japanese history, old form and new form after Edo period. Education of samurai in those two stages have different character, but both of them are apparently focus on militarism. Look back on the history of samurai's education in Shogunate Era will help us to understand the influence of Bushido with modern Japanese military spirit, and historical origin of Japanese militarism.
