A Review of Domestic Empirical Studies on Political Participation——Based on Sample Papers from CSSCI Source Journals

With the increase of Chinese citizens' activity in political participation, the domestic academic circle has done more empirical studies on political participation, showing an exponential growth in the quantity of research literature. The existing literature is focused on such themes as the factors influencing political participation and the effects of political participation at different layers. However, due to reasons like the selection of samples, methods of analysis as well as the definition and operationalization of critical concepts, scholars have reached quite different, even contradictory conclusions on the same themes. Looking forward to the future, we should, for the better development of this research field, learn from the methodology of other disciplines, promote the implementation of trans-regional and transnational large-scale survey programs through inter-institutional cooperation, and expand the exchange and communication with foreign academic circles.
