Studies on the Inheritance of Tongcheng School in Jiangxi Province

Abstract
As the largest prose school in Qing Dynasty, Tongcheng School had authors all over China. During late Jia-dao Reigns, Tongcheng School of Jiangxi province was still one of the most important schools, but only few scholars have studied it. On the basis of the forms of teacher-student relation namely apprenticeship and Sishu(learning from someone without apprenticing to him in person), and judging by whether the Yifa Theory of Tongcheng School was followed, this dissertation confirms that there were 53 Tongcheng authors in Jiangxi through consulting chronicles, historical records, The Study into the Origin and Composition of Tongcheng Genre written by LIU Shengmu, the anthology of poetry and prose by Jiangxi Tongcheng authors, and etc. This dissertation also conducts research into the inheritance and passing down of Tongcheng School in Jiangxi with an aim to facilitate in depth studies into Tongcheng School.
