The Role of Shear Stress on Exfoliation Corrosion of B737CL Keel Beam

  • Based on the exfoliation corrosion rules and load styles around automatic direction finder antenna installing hole of B737CL keel beam, the role of shear stress on EFC of keel beam were investigated by means of finite element analysis and corrosion test in oceanic environment without load and with operating load. The results show that the axial stress of grain L and LT around the hole was almost same.Severe EFC had been observed on the blended area with operating load less than two years. No EFC had been observed on the blended area without load even more than three years. We can draw a conclusion that alternative shear stress on ST can accelerate EFC of 7150 alloy.Constant shear stress had no effect on EFC of 7150 alloy.
