The Microstructure and Properties in-situ TiB2 Particulates Reinforced AL-7 Si Composites

  • LSM was employed to fabricate in situ TiB2 particulates reinforced Al-7Si composites.Scanning alloy observation shows that TiB2 particulates are well distributed within the matrix and their average magnitude is about 400 nm in diameter.TiB2 not only acts as a grain refiner for primary α-Al,but also as a modifier of Si in eutectic mixture.The mechanical property and wear resistance of the alloy are significantly improved with the addition of TiB2 particulates.
